One of the ways young people express their love to each other is through songs. Serenading your partner in the cool of the night as the gentle breeze of the oceans blow through your interlaced fingers is simply heartwarming. As that special one’s voice caresses your eardrums, you can’t help but smile broadly and wish you were together forever. But as you reminisce and sit upon your bed, you can’t understand how your partner could have cheated on you…over and over again! After all those moments you shared together! All the candle-lit dinners and moments of intense passion were merely short-lived fantasies.
How could your partner be so callous after such great kindness you showed, by literally giving your everything away?
Don’t we all cheat? You may say you don’t but the truth is that you do, every day! Cheating on God!
Saying “I love You” with your glossy lips while hiding another lover in your closet, is that one too love?
In fact, it is exactly what Jesus was talking about when He echoed the writings of Isaiah the Prophet, saying, “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.'” (Mark 7:6-7, NLT).
The Word says, “For all have sinned and have come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).
Today, many things have taken the place of God in our lives. Our jobs. Our education. Our phones. Our friends. Our money. These things have become idols. They have been enthroned in our hearts, taking our time and attention and sucking the very love we profess to have for Him.
But there’s good news: Love covers a multitude of sins! Love does not keep record of wrongs!
God says, “I have swept away your sins like a cloud. I have scattered your offenses like the morning mist. Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free.” (Isaiah 44:22).
He goes on to say, “And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.” (Hebrews 8:12, NLT).
Act fast, for He says, “…”Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.” (Hebrews 3:15, NLT)
The love of God covers a multitude of sins, even your sins!
Do you believe?
Run to Jesus now, for He says, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, NLT).
