Bucket Lists

I think about eternity almost always. About Jesus. About the future of sinners. About the future of the saints. About how life after death would be. About eternal rewards and damnation. I consider how life would be after this tortuous journey on the earth has ended. And the conclusion I draw is similar to that of the Teacher. He said, “Let us hear the conclusion of the matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
In Sonic the Hedgehog, the police officer defined a bucket list as a list of things you would want to do before kicking the bucket. I think it’s an apt definition. Sonic had quite a list, and he had only a few hours to stay on earth before transitioning to the supposed mushroom world.
The point is this: the time is short. What’s on your bucket list? Before Jesus returns or before you walk on in glory, what would you have accomplished for God? The answer lies in the Word: “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” (Romans 13:11-14).
That’s God’s message to you today. Before you think of that joint you’ve always wanted to visit, consider your state before God. Consider your relationship with Him. Consider your manner of life. Consider your Service before Him. Consider your love for your neighbours. Consider the souls left to be won. Consider the talents you have not deployed yet.
If you don’t know Jesus yet, the first thing on your list should be to receive Him as your Lord and personal Saviour by praying as follows:
“O Lord God, I come to you in the Name of Jesus. I believe with all my heart that you sent your Son Jesus Christ into the world to die for my sins and your raised Him from the dead. I confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from today and I receive Him into my heart. I am now a child of God! I am a new creation. Glory to God!”
And check that bucket list before you kick the bucket!

Always Victorious

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place (2 Corinthians 2:14).

There’s a reason the Church is the most persecuted of the demographics in the world: Satan is afraid of what’s coming, and he’s making so much effort to cause fear in the hearts of many. But he’s a failure. Mighty things are happening in the Church of Jesus Christ, and the devil can’t contain it. What’s happening with us is bigger than what’s happening in Technology, Science, or Politics.

In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said, “…I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The word, “Gates” is symbolic in prophetic language for “power and dominion.” So, the powers of hell, the dominion of hell, shall not prevail against the Church.

The Church, right from inception, has survived and endured many terrible persecutions, and will always out-live her detractors. That’s because the Word of God is clear: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Romans 8:35-37).

We’re forever victorious. We crush every opposition and conquer every adversity. That’s the blessing upon the Church. The Holy Spirit is the Boss of the Church, and He’s God. He’s working in, with, and through us. It’s impossible for us to fail. We won before we started; we’re just acting out the script that’s already been written. Hallelujah!

The Amplified version of our theme verse says, “But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory….” That’s what’s happening. We’re in a Holy Ghost victory parade. What you need is to stay focused on the work of the Lord, serving Him with joy. Hallelujah!

I’m a member of the glorious and triumphant body of Christ. Therefore, I’m indestructible; no matter what happens, I win, because the Word puts me over and guarantees my victory. Greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world. I reign and rule with Christ, now and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Romans 8:37-39 (KJV)
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 John 4:4 (KJV)
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

1 Corinthians 15:57-58 (KJV)
57 But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

#Quotidian…grow daily!

Use your tongue right!

On the last day of last year, I set out to finish some work on a book project. A senior minister had been working on a book on the subject of confessions of the Word, which I had the privilege of helping with. As I read the book again and again, editing and making input, the reality of the importance of making confessions of the Word dawned on me in a very special way.

In times past, my confessions were intermittent, probably while walking down the road, in Church, on my way to work, alone in my room, bathing (mostly), and of course in prayer. This time, my efforts to confess the Word are more intentional.
As you may already know, words are the currency of the spirit realm and our lives are the result of our words. Come to think of it: your very salvation is a result of your confession of Jesus as the Lord of your life (see Romans 10:9,10).
Jesus said you are justified by words or condemned by your words (Matthew 12:37). He said you would have what you say (Mark 11:23). In fact, this very world was made by words (Hebrews 11:3). So, I have decided to write down my confessions and speak them forth consistently on a daily basis.
I thought to share them with you because I know you will also enjoy the fruit of this amazing exercise.
So, revel in the glory of the Word as you confess boldly that which God has said concerning you:
I am the Light of the world
I am the salt of the earth
I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus
I am born of the Spirit
I am born of the Word of God
I am a new creature in Christ Jesus
I am an ambassador of Christ
I am God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus created unto good works
The law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death
The Word of God is growing mightily in me, prevailing in my life, my body, my soul and my spirit
The Word of God is growing mightily in me, prevailing in my circumstances
I dwell in the Presence of God
My body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit
I am full of the Spirit of God
I am full of the Grace of God
I am full of the Word of God
I am a success
Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world
I am the Seed of Abraham
None of my steps shall slide
My steps are ordered of the Lord
I walk in the path of life
I walk in righteousness
I walk in dominion
My path is as the shining light, shining brighter and brighter unto the perfect day!
I have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, of love and of a sound mind
I have the mind of Christ
I am strengthened with the strength of God
I am strengthened with might, by God’s Spirit in my inner man
I have favour everywhere I go
Money follows me
Goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life
I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me
Nothing is impossible unto me
My desires are aligned with God’s desires
My affections are set on things above not on things on the earth
I live above the darkness
I live above the confusion
I am sensitive to the Holy Spirit
I have the Light of life
The Wisdom of God is at work in me
I am led by the Holy Spirit
I hear the Voice of Jesus Christ clearly, and when I hear I do
The Lord is my Shepherd therefore I refuse to lack
The Lord is the strength of my life
The Lord is my Helper
The glory of God is working in me
I am anointed by the Holy Spirit
I am guided by the anointing
The anointing is working in me, producing supernatural results in my life and my ministry
I am born for the top
I am above only and never beneath
All things are mine
I am blessed with all spiritual blessings in the Heavenlies
My progress cannot be stopped
I am a blessing to all those I come in contact with
I am a blessing to even those I have not yet met
I am moving with the speed of the Holy Spirit
No weapon fashioned against me shall prosper
The grace of God is abundant in my life
Sin shall not have dominion over me
The gifts of the Spirit are in operation in my life and my ministry
My life is the manifestation of the fruit of the Spirit
The gifts of healings are pronounced in my ministry
Everyone I lay hands on is healed and delivered from their afflictions
I am bold with the Gospel
I am an effective soul winner
I am winning souls like never before
My sheep are multiplying because we are winning souls by the power of the Holy Spirit
The grace of God is multiplying in my ministry
My sheep are growing in the knowledge of God
They are increasing in wisdom
The work of my hands are blessed
Whatsoever my hands find to do shall prosper
As you use your tongue right, may you flourish on every side throughout this year and always!
Your 2020 is blessed and prosperous already!

When God Walked the Earth…

When God walked the earth

The vibrations of His vocal cords

Reverberated through time and eternity

Slicing time into B.C. and A.D.

What manner of Man is this?

When God walked the earth

His Presence signified joy on earth

For the signal of this Bright and Morning Star

Beamed smiles across the faces of the grief-stricken

For one aged man embraced eternal glory, having seen His cute and cuddly form

When God walked the earth

The lame walked, the blind saw, and the Gospel was preached

When God walked the earth

The hungry were filled, for He is the Bread of Life

When God walked the earth

The lost found purpose, for He is the Way

When God walked the earth

The dead were raised to life, for He is the Resurrection and the Life

When God walked the earth

He became the Son of man, that the sons of men might become the Sons of God!

Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke lived a Life of Fire 🔥

I never had the opportunity to meet Evangelist Bonnke in person but I encountered him through his writings and the messages he preached. I was awed by his earnestness, his zeal, his passion for the lost, and his courage to fulfil his calling. His proclamation of truth was from a place of knowing Jesus and His love for humanity so intimately that he could intimate it with clarity. I thank God that as a young man, I have found out about him and his ministry, Christ for all Nations.

I thank God that this man heeded the call and decided to document his life in a book (Living a Life of Fire) so that we can experience the same grace he experienced and walk in that blazing flame he so passionately exuded all his life. If you desire to be used of God to reach your world for Jesus, I recommend that you obtain his books and messages. His Full Flame Film series (available on http://www.gettheflame.com) is a must-watch for you.
Evangelist Bonnke fought a good fight. He ran the race. He finished his course. It’s our turn. He passed the torch successfully.
You know, two days ago, I watched a message entitled, “The Judgement Seat of Christ” (I recommend it for you) by his successor, Evangelist Daniel Kolenda, and I thought to myself, “How will Heaven be like when rewards are being disbursed by Jesus Himself?” I’m thrilled by the fact that this great evangelist successfully transferred the reins of the leadership of his ministry and as such the great work God started with him continues still. Glory to God!
If you do not know Evangelist Bonnke, here’s an extract I retrieved from an e-mail I received from his ministry a day before his passing:
Born in Königsberg, East Prussia, Germany in 1940, Reinhard committed his life to Jesus at the tender age of nine and soon after began telling his family he would one day serve as a missionary in Africa. In 1967, he and his young family answered that call and moved to the mountain kingdom of Lesotho, nestled deep within South Africa. Initially he was frustrated by the slow pace of salvations. But it was there that God began to give Evangelist Bonnke dreams of a map of Africa covered in the blood of Jesus and the voice of God declaring, “Africa shall be saved!”
This led him to change his approach from classic “church” ministry to large-scale evangelism. He took a leap of faith, rented a stadium… and only 100 people showed up. However, it was 100 people plus the Holy Spirit. In that first meeting, one of the attendees was miraculously healed. Word quickly spread throughout the community and by the closing session, thousands had come to hear Bonnke’s clear, impassioned preaching of the Gospel. That was just the beginning.
God continued to kiss the ministry, and in 1974 Evangelist Bonnke organized his efforts under the name, Christ for all Nations. Since then, more than 78-million people have made registered decisions to follow Christ at a CfaN Great Gospel Campaign. He has preached to some of the largest crowds ever-gathered – up to 1.6 million in a single session. Countless churches throughout the continent (and world) are pastored by leaders who first received Jesus during a Reinhard Bonnke sermon. Millions have been discipled by the more than 35 books he has written. Whole nations have turned toward godliness as a result of his courageous proclamations of truth. It is not an exaggeration to say that God has used Evangelist Bonnke to change the course of history.
In the mid-2000s, God gave Evangelist Bonnke the foresight to – in his words – “know that the baton has to be passed on to the young generation. This ministry is not my private property. It is all by God’s grace.” At the time, Daniel Kolenda was supplementing his income as a church-planter and pastor by moonlighting in the CfaN book warehouse. On a “chance encounter,” Reinhard met Daniel when walking through the office. The Holy Spirit prompted Evangelist Bonnke to ask the young man to be his personal assistant. Recognizing God’s favor and anointing on his life, Evangelist Bonnke transferred ever-increasing leadership responsibilities to Evangelist Kolenda. In 2013, Daniel Kolenda became Lead Evangelist and CEO of CfaN, though he continues to draw on Evangelist Bonnke’s experience and friendship. Evangelist Bonnke currently enjoys an active retirement that includes writing, speaking engagements and continued conversations with church leaders around the globe. He and his family do ask for your prayers as he recently underwent bone surgery – a result of age-related health issues. Still, his contagious joy and overflowing love of Jesus influences everything we do at CfaN. We remain proud to follow him as he follows Jesus.
The real question is: “Is what you’re loving for worth Christ dying for?”

The Day Sinach Liked my Tweet

I once randomly tweeted about how wonderful Sinach’s songs are and the blessedness of listening to her songs, particularly the one entitled “Matchless Love”. Incidentally, I seemed to have tagged her in doing so. Thus, she liked my tweet. When I saw the notification, I was superexcited. I was thrilled, amazed and humbled. It was a mixed bag of emotions, to say the least.
I felt special because out of her myriads of important followers on Twitter, she deemed it fit to like my tweet.
Well, the truth is that God in Heaven sees you as special and precious in His sight. To Him, you are that one person He loves as though there was no one else aside you. Just think for a moment about the vastness of His greatness. Of course, it is an impossible feat, for Paul says, “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!” (Romans 11:33). Just to imagine that a God so great would be mindful of humans so frail is simply mind blowing!
You see, God, in all His majesty and grandeur, cannot possibly relate with us as He wants. So He decided to be like one of us- mortal. He divested Himself of His divinity and clothed Himself with humanity so that we could encounter His divinity despite our humanity. So now, “…He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News.” (2 Timothy 1:10, NLT).
Billy Graham put it this way: If you saw an ant that was struggling to get out of a certain terrible spot and wanted to save it, how would you do it without hurting the ant? You are big; it is small. You risk killing it by simply tapping it with your finger or even a broomstick. How in the world will you be able to save the ant from that tragedy? How will you get it out of its rut? The answer is to become like an ant. Think like the ant. Act like the ant and save the ant.
That’s what God accomplished in sending Jesus, His only begotten Son, to redeem the world from sins. God welcomes you into his family and His Kingdom today. Jesus paid for your sins with His very life. He bought you with His blood that He shed on that God forsaken cross. In fact, when Jesus Christ hung on that cross between two criminals, He had the sentence of death of all humanity charged to His account, despite His sinlessness. Isaiah prophesied, writing that He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities (Isaiah 53:5).
We cannot do anything to earn this great salvation that has been made available to us. You cannot attain unto perfection by your good works. Jesus is your perfection; He finished all the work on the cross. You can only please God by faith in Christ Jesus! Believe in the Name of Jesus and be saved!

She just dey be!

I encountered an insanely stunning lady today

Simply put, she dey be

Her skin looked as though she had only been born today

Simply put, she dey be

Her eyes were so clear that I felt like she could see through my frame of clay

Simply put, she dey be

This lady’s face was radiant and glowing like the noon day

Simply put, she dey be

As I surveyed her lovely frame, my mind was blown away

Simply put she dey be

I sat at the triage, contemplating whether or not to ask her on a date

But our eyes met and she stared into mine

There and then, I knew I was fine

For that’s what happens when you encounter Revelation!

She just lights up your heart…and you’re fine!

She just dey be!

The One Perfect Gardener

By Herbert Quaye Altar

Did you know that the average gardener does not grow more than 3 million flowers? It’s quite interesting to observe that the gardener who plants and grows his flowers may not be able to care for them equally by giving attention to each one of those flowers. Some may be sun-scorched, wither and die. Others may not receive adequate nourishment and die. Still others may not even be pruned. Nonetheless, the gardener is confident that his blossoming garden, which looks so good at a once-over, is yielding bountiful fruit for him, and he will make some very good potted flowers and bouquets for his customers.

But God is so caring and loving that even out of 7 billion people and more increasing every day, if one person goes astray, His heart is so moved that He literally chases after us, to restore us. Furthermore, when a soul is won the whole Heavens rejoice! Hallelujah!

Now to this why won’t one follow the Perfect Gardener- the One Who is troubled when One of His flowers is gone bad, the One Who rejoices when one of his flowers blooms!

God is the Perfect Gardener!

The Whole Point

Imagine a death row inmate who is just about to be executed. He has just eaten his last meal. The electric chair is warmed up and ready. Suddenly someone knocks on the door. It’s a pardon from the governor. This man—as good as dead a few moments ago—has now been released. He’s been given his life back. This sort of story has often been used to illustrate our salvation. But when it comes to what Jesus did for us on the cross, it goes so much deeper. When we were rescued from eternal death, the Governor did not merely send a pardon. He entered the execution chamber, sat in the electric chair Himself, and took the execution we deserved as prisoners on eternal death row. Paul’s point is that Jesus exchanged His life for ours. Are you living your life for Him? Love begets love and His sacrifice should kindle a desire to sacrifice in us. Paul continues with the same thought in the next verse…

He died for all that, those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. (v. 15, NKJV)

As Leonard Ravenhill asked: “Are the things you’re living for worth Christ dying for?” Do you evaluate your life and your priorities in light of the price Jesus paid for you? The natural response might be, “Well, it’s my life. I can live how I want to live.” No, my friend, it’s not your life. You have been bought with a price and your life is not your own, “therefore, glorify God in your body” (1 Cor. 6:20).

I love to tell this story when I preach the gospel in Africa. It’s the true account of an old Baptist pastor from the 1800s, preparing his Sunday sermon on Saturday afternoon. After several hours of study, he got tired and went for a walk to stretch his legs. As he walked through town, he saw a boy carrying a birdcage in one hand and a stick in the other. Inside the cage were a dozen little field birds, and the boy was jabbing the birds through the bars with the stick. The birds were shrieking, feathers were flying, and the boy was laughing. The pastor approached the boy. “Son,” he said, “why are you tormenting those birds?”

The boy said, “Sir, I love to hear them shriek. I love to see their feathers fly. It is so much fun.”

“What will you do when you are finished having your fun?” the pastor asked.

The boy smiled broadly. “Oh sir, that’s the best part. I will bring them home, take them out of the cage one by one, pluck their feathers, and feed them to my cat.”

The pastor’s heart was broken. “Son, let me have those birds,” he said.

“No, these are my birds. I caught them myself. You can get your own birds. You can catch some in the field.”

“But I want those birds.”

“Why? They don’t even sing. They aren’t canaries, you know. They are just ordinary field birds.”

“Please, son. I’ll buy them from you. How much do you want?”

The pastor took out his wallet and opened it up. Suddenly the boy saw a business opportunity. “How much money do you have, sir?” The pastor counted two dollars, which was a lot of money in those days.

“What a coincidence,” the boy said. “They cost exactly two dollars, cage included.”

The pastor knew the boy was ripping him off, but he took all the money out of his wallet and handed it to the boy. The next day the pastor told this story as he stood before his congregation. He said, “I took that cage out into the field. I opened the door and I backed away. One by one the birds hopped to the open door. One by one they spread their wings, and one by one they began to fly. And as they flew to freedom they began to sing the same song. And this was their song: ‘Redeemed, Redeemed, Redeemed.’”

This is what Jesus has done for us. When God looked down on a world full of helpless souls trapped in the prison of sin—tormented by fears and tears, by addictions and compulsions—His heart was moved with compassion. He knew that we could do nothing to save ourselves and He knew that without His deliverance, we would spend eternity in hell. This does not mean that God made a deal with the devil. I don’t believe any such thing. But it does mean that God truly “redeemed” us from our bondage.

The word “redeemed” in the New Testament means to liberate by the payment of a ransom. But what was the price of our ransom? Peter tells us explicitly: “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect” (1 Pet. 1:18-19, niv).

We have been redeemed. We have been purchased—not with dollars or Euros, not with silver or gold. In fact, the currency God used to purchase your redemption was the most precious substance in the universe—the very blood of Jesus Christ. When God purchased your salvation, Heaven went bankrupt. For even the streets of gold are worthless by comparison to the blood of God’s eternal Son. God could create a whole new universe with a word. But only that precious blood of Jesus Christ could redeem our souls. So Paul says, “Those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again!” The next verse takes it even further. Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. (v. 16, NKJV)
