We are Marked with the Precious Blood of Jesus

As I have criss-crossed the world and Africa, I have become the focus of attacks of satan many times. In Africa, millions love me- I love them all! But there are a few who hate me and you know, shall I tell you who the ones are that hate me? They are the sorcerers. They are the witches because they say when Bonnke comes to town our business goes bankrupt. I take it as a compliment!

Many times, witches and sorcerers came to curse me. In one Crusade, four witches came and they said, “We’re going to curse Bonnke.” I didn’t know anything about such hocus pocus but this is what happened: four came and they said, “We’ll position ourselves at the four corners of his Crusade site.”

Then they were synchronising their watches and they said, “The same split second when Bonnke preaches, we’re going to call up evil spirits. We will hurl them against him on the platform and he will be paralysed.” I sat on my chair there. The singers were singing…far too long for my taste.

You know, when your gun is loaded, it’s a torment if you can’t pull the trigger. I sat there- I smelt nothing of demons at all. But when I sat there I felt the anointing of the Holy Spirit under me, around me, everywhere! Then they said, “Now, Evangelist Bonnke will come to the microphone.” And I said, “Hallelujah!” That one little “Hallelujah” was enough and it snapped four times. Snap! Snap! Snap! Snap! Those four sorcerers came together and said, “Bonnke is too powerful- we can never curse him.”

They got into contact with the biggest witch on earth and said, “Please fly to Africa. We’ll pay your first class ticket. Come and curse Bonnke.”

I don’t want to keep you in too much suspense but I already want to tell you that that was a 1st class mistake! That witch came. I was in another Crusade. Those four sorcerers were sitting in the middle of the crowd. That big witch was sitting in-between. I was sitting on my chair. I didn’t smell any devil. I felt the anointing. Hallelujah! Blessed be the Name of Jesus!

They said, “Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke is going to preach.” I jumped up and took the microphone and just said a little “Hallelujah!” That moment, that big witch that had come first class had an asthma attack. She started to wheeze, “I’m dying. I’m dying. Take me out!” They carried her out. I nearly went down to pray for her because you know we happen to pray for the sick!

Now, you say, “Reinhard, how do you know all this?” Good question! I tell you how I know all this: one of those four sorcerers came back. He stood in front of me shaking like a leaf in the wind. He told me the whole story. He said to me, “Bonnke, today I have seen that your Jesus is stronger than my Lucifer!”

Results!

“There, God has highly exalted Him and given Him a Name above every name!”

He said to me, “I want your Jesus.”

All devils were cast out of him!

My latest information is that he’s an evangelist filled with the Holy Spirit. There is power in the blood of Jesus! No matter what the devil works up, you don’t need to swallow what he cooks up! We are bought with a price! If I look after my property and you look after your property, God looks after His property! We are marked with the precious blood of Jesus!

We are not up for chances!

We are safe and secure in the arms of Jesus!

“Atheism is intellectual vandalism”

I was invited for a TV interview on National TV where experts were discussing religious questions. Well, I was very fortunate to be invited and when I arrived there I found that they only had invited another ‘expert’ and he was an atheist. So I thought to myself, “How come they invite for this discussion an atheist and me, a hot evangelist?” And then I discovered, “I think they have done this because they want a good fight.” And I must confess my German nature sometimes is still quite awake. I like a good fight myself, especially when it comes to Jesus- I spoke of a good fight.

Now, here the moderator starts the talk, we are live on TV nationwide and here the atheist takes off and he says, “Bonnke, you preach that there is power in the blood of Jesus.”

I said, “Yes I do.”

He said, “I believe there is no power in the blood of Jesus whatsoever.”

I asked, “Why do you say that?”

He said, “Because the blood of Jesus is already 2,000 years in this world and the world today is worse than it was 2,000 years ago, and because the presence of the blood of Jesus in this world has not made this world better but it has become worse that’s why I say there is no power in the blood of Jesus.”

I said, “Mister, wait! I want to reply! Mister, there is also soap in this world yet many people are still dirty. Let me explain to you how soap works in case you don’t know.”

I said, “If I am dirty and I stand next to a piece of soap I will not be automatically clean. Soap doesn’t work automatically no matter how close you get to it. You won’t be clean even if you should work in a soap factory.”

I said, “Now, mister, this is what is going to happen: if you want to now what soap can do, you have to reach out with your hand, get that piece of soap and start to apply it!…if you do you will know there is power in the soap…and so it is with the blood of Jesus.”

It’s not enough to know it!

It’s not enough to sing about it!

It’s not enough to preach about it.

I said, “Mister, now I dare you: reach out for the blood of Jesus. Apply it to your sinful life and if you do something will happen to you that has already happened to 100s of millions of people all over the world. You will jump up, you will throw up your arms, you will shout, you will sing, you will say, “There is power, wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb!”” Amen!

This man looked at me and said, “Oh! Bonnke, you’re different!”

I asked, “What do you mean?”

“Well,” he said, “I met some evangelists before but you are different. Something is emanating from you. I already tried to analyze what the difference may be between the other evangelists I met, and you. I think it’s that the others are amateurs and you are a professional.”

I said, “Mister, I’m sorry to say, but you are wrong again! I am not a professional evangelist. I tell you what I am and who I am: I am a living piece of evidence that there is power in the blood of Jesus!”

Hallelujah!

Blessed be the Name of Jesus!

There is power in the blood of Jesus!

When I left the TV house, walking to my car, suddenly somebody tapped me on my shoulder. I looked around- my atheist!

He said to me, “Bonnke, would you please pray for me?”

Atheism is intellectual vandalism! That’s my definition for atheism, but Jesus is here to save every atheist!

There is power, wonder-working power in the blood of the Lamb!

Wealth for Everyday Solution

Give us this day our daily bread (Matthew 6:11).

As a child of God, the government of your country isn’t supposed to decide your prosperity. There’s a higher government—heaven’s government—and you belong in that government. Under heaven’s government, your financial prosperity is for all-time; there’s supply for you every day!

Unlike the governments of this world, there’s no “welfare” system or pension program with God. He’s bigger, and does better than that. He has a glorious plan for your life and has made provisions for your future. You never have to live your life on some pension, charity, or benefit from the government or anyone. The Bible says He has given you all that pertains to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3); all that you need, to require no aid or support. Hallelujah!

God’s purpose is that you’re big enough to help others. He didn’t intend for you to be the one needing help. The Bible says saviours shall arise from Mount Zion (Obadiah 1:21); that’s you and me. We’re heirs of God, and through us He blesses and makes many rich. There’re many around us who are in dire need, and we must heed their cry for help.

We read in our theme verse how Jesus taught His disciples to pray. Part of the content of that prayer format was, “Give us this day our daily bread.” He was letting us know that there’s a daily provision, and your name is on it! The provisions you never claimed have accumulated, waiting for you.

It’s time to lay claims to them. It’s about time you said, “Father, I’m ready; all your daily provisions for me that I never claimed, I receive them now!” Have the boldness to call them forth. Don’t wait to get to heaven and discover there was so much you could have had that you never took advantage of. Claim what’s yours. Your salary or pension or profit from business aren’t your source. God is your source, and He has provision for you EVERY DAY. Praise God!

CONFESSION

Thanks be unto God who daily loads me with benefits! He’s made all grace—every favour and earthly blessing—come to me in abundance, such that I’m always and under all circumstances and whatever the need, self-sufficient—possessing enough to require no aid or support, and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation. Hallelujah!

Heaven is not a Promise

We, however, are citizens of heaven, and we eagerly wait for our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come from heaven (Philippians 3:20 GNB).

When we say every promise in the Word of God has already been fulfilled in us the new creation, there’re those who ask, “What about heaven? Isn’t that promised us?” Heaven isn’t a promise, because we were born there: “But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven…” (Hebrews 12:22-23).

Also, read again our opening verse: it says, “We ARE citizens of heaven,” not “We SHALL be citizens of heaven. You’re a bona fide citizen of heaven NOW. Recall the words of Jesus in John 8:23; He said to the Jews, “I’m from above”; referring to His heavenly origin. Then concerning us, He said, “You’re not of this world,” even though we live in this world. That’s because the Christian lives in two worlds contemporaneously.

Look at it this way: perhaps, you’re a citizen of the United States, living in the United Kingdom. The fact that you’re not living in the United States doesn’t nullify your American citizenship, neither does it make your American citizenship a promise. Therefore, that you’re in the earth doesn’t preclude you from enjoying all the blessings, rights and privileges of your heavenly citizenship.

According to the Bible, heaven is our home; it belongs to us now. We were born there, and live there NOW! Psalm 87:4-5 talks about it. It says, “I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there. And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.” When you study the context, you’d observe that he’s referring to the new creation who is born in Zion, which is the heavenly Jerusalem in Hebrews 12:22.

In the new birth, we were translated into the Kingdom of God’s Love Son (Colossians 1:13). This isn’t a promise; it’s already done. This is a heavenly kingdom, and operates from heaven. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

Like the Lord Jesus, I’m not of this world; I’m born from heaven and live the life of heaven now in the earth! I’m conscious of my heavenly blessings, rights and privileges and I enjoy them to the full. Hallelujah!

[New Book Alert]: Slaying Dragons

There was a brilliant seventeen-year-old girl who got perfect scores on the Scholastic Achievement Test and a perfect score on the University of California acceptance index—a feat never accomplished before. She was a true genius. But when a reporter asked her, “What is the meaning of life?” She replied, “I have no idea. I would like to know myself.”

The meaning of life stands as history’s great existential question—the object of humanity’s philosophical struggle since the beginning of time. The question has stumped the most brilliant thinkers, and it continues to intrigue both sinner and saint. Yes, even Christians can wrestle with the meaning of life. But they express the issue with far more precision, actually asking two questions: Why was I created? And why was I saved?

As we search the Scriptures, we find that the answer to both questions is the same. When you find the answer to one, you have found the answer to both—and thus to the meaning of life itself.

Bucket Lists

I think about eternity almost always. About Jesus. About the future of sinners. About the future of the saints. About how life after death would be. About eternal rewards and damnation. I consider how life would be after this tortuous journey on the earth has ended. And the conclusion I draw is similar to that of the Teacher. He said, “Let us hear the conclusion of the matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
In Sonic the Hedgehog, the police officer defined a bucket list as a list of things you would want to do before kicking the bucket. I think it’s an apt definition. Sonic had quite a list, and he had only a few hours to stay on earth before transitioning to the supposed mushroom world.
The point is this: the time is short. What’s on your bucket list? Before Jesus returns or before you walk on in glory, what would you have accomplished for God? The answer lies in the Word: “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” (Romans 13:11-14).
That’s God’s message to you today. Before you think of that joint you’ve always wanted to visit, consider your state before God. Consider your relationship with Him. Consider your manner of life. Consider your Service before Him. Consider your love for your neighbours. Consider the souls left to be won. Consider the talents you have not deployed yet.
If you don’t know Jesus yet, the first thing on your list should be to receive Him as your Lord and personal Saviour by praying as follows:
“O Lord God, I come to you in the Name of Jesus. I believe with all my heart that you sent your Son Jesus Christ into the world to die for my sins and your raised Him from the dead. I confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from today and I receive Him into my heart. I am now a child of God! I am a new creation. Glory to God!”
And check that bucket list before you kick the bucket!

Excel in the Grace of Giving

But just as you excel in everything–in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us–see that you also excel in this grace of giving (2 Corinthians 8:7 NIV).

Every Christian is supposed to be passionate about God’s work, and put their resources into the push and spread of the Gospel around the world. But there’re usually those who are more passionate than others. They’re the ones Paul referred to in our theme scripture: they excel in the grace of giving.

Giving is a grace; it’s one of the spiritual gifts in the Bible. What makes it spiritual is that it’s God who gives the ability. Romans 12:6-8 says, “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith…he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity….” Remember, He already said that upon receiving the Holy Spirit, we would all prophesy: “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy…” (Acts 2:17). However, the Word also says, “…to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom” (1 Corinthians 12:8), even though the Holy Ghost enables everyone to prophesy and to see visions.

In the same way, everyone is enabled to give, but the grace of giving is also a gift. And the Bible says, “…earnestly covet the best gifts…” (1 Corinthians 12:31). So, it’s okay to covet and desire to excel in the grace of giving. In every gift of God, you get better by practice. So, practise giving your best; it comes with its myriads of blessings and promotions of the Spirit. Praise God!

PRAYER

Precious Father, I thank you for the understanding of your Word granted me even now; thank you for making all grace—every favour and earthly blessing—come to me in abundance, so that I may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need, be self-sufficient, possessing enough to require no aid or support, furnished in abundance, for every good work, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

|| Romans 12:6-8

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, [let us wait] on [our] ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, [let him do it] with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. ||

|| Luke 8:1-3

And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve [were] with him, 2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, 3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance. ||

|| 2 Corinthians 8:9-10 AMPC

For you are becoming progressively acquainted with and recognizing more strongly and clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (His kindness, His gracious generosity, His undeserved favor and spiritual blessing), [in] that though He was [so very] rich, yet for your sakes He became [so very] poor, in order that by His poverty you might become enriched (abundantly supplied). 10 [It is then] my counsel and my opinion in this matter that I give [you when I say]: It is profitable and fitting for you [now to complete the enterprise] which more than a year ago you not only began, but were the first to wish to do anything [about contributions for the relief of the saints at Jerusalem]. |

Rely on the Holy Ghost

My mind was taken back to a day in Oakland when some seniors came to my classroom and handed us small pieces of paper on which they had written verses of Scripture. We were three friends who used to attend Day Students’ Scripture Union together. These seniors were Executives of the Union and gave us foreknowledge that we would be preaching on the verses they had given us. As a form 1 boy, I didn’t give it a second thought, mainly because I was not ready to preach and I did not know how to preach. I had no eloquence whatsoever.
So the day came and we were supposed to read out the verse and share our understanding of it. I can’t even recall whether or not I read the verse before the day…but it’s quite interesting that it was from John 16, a chapter popularly referenced when sharing on the Person and the the Work of the Holy Spirit. I asked God for them to skip me and call someone else to read and share his verse, but it seems I was supposed to be called upon that day.
When the senior called me, I walked up to the lectern, quivering with the small paper they gave me in hand and my Bible. I opened to the portion and read it out. Then I said a few words I can’t remember…but I’m definitely sure that I messed up big time. One thing I know about me is this: if I do a presentation and I can’t recall anything I said months or years after, then I must have really messed it up. I marched to my seat, thinking to myself, “What was that? I don’t even understand what I read out.”
As I thought through that experience, I was humbled and grateful to God for His precious Holy Spirit, without Whom nothing in my life would work out well. He has really changed my life…well, there’s a lot more to learn and change.
Fast forward to form 3, here I was standing on a stage and preaching the Gospel with boldness to form 1 boys in the main Assembly Hall. When I called for those who wanted to be saved, they came forward in droves to receive Christ. As I reflect on this, I can’t help but give the credit to the Holy Spirit, who put His fire in my heart to tell of the love of Jesus!
Today, it is no different. My fear of addressing people about Jesus is gone and I can articulate His message with clarity and joy! The Scriptures are now beautiful to me and I seek to understand more and more, simply because He came into my life and changed everything. No wonder He says you have not been given a Spirit of fear, but of love, of power and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
The Holy Spirit is the single most indispensable Person for you as a child of God. He’s the One called alongside you (John 14:16). Acknowledge Him, recognize Him and rely on Him.
If you have not received the Holy Spirit, this is your opportunity to do so. Jesus said the Father would give the Holy Spirit freely to you if you ask (Luke 11:13). It’s time for you to receive a fresh anointing for living unto and serving the Lord.
Let’s pray:
“Father, thank You so much for the gift of your Holy Spirit. I’m glad you sent Him to help me in this walk of faith. I acknowledge Him today as my Comforter and I receive Him this moment. Father, please fill me with your Holy Spirit today that I may be a bold witness for Jesus and do your work. I receive utterance to speak with other tongues as your Spirit grants me, in Jesus’ Name! Amen!”
