The past two Sundays have been fire-packed in UGGLIC. The man of God Apostle Victor Badger and his dear wife Rev. Mrs. Monica Badger have been sharing on truths pertaining to Christian character, the fruit of the Spirit, purity, renewal of the mind and the new creation.
He said that God gives various types of gifts to His people which are irrevocable. Nonetheless, it is character that will make your ministry complete. Build upon your character to make your ministry complete. Touching on how to build your character, he pointed out punctuality, accountability, discipline and attitude.
He said, “When you wake up in the morning, have some amount of discipline in your life. Fellowship with the Lord.”
He said that fellowship is communication. Have personal worship unto the Lord. In order to come into true fellowship with the Lord, we must approach him with a heart of repentance. He emphasized, “A closer walk with God can be achieved by having a healthy practice of confessing your sins to the Lord.”
Referencing from Luke 18:9-14, we discovered the parable Jesus gave of the publican and the Pharisee who prayed in the temple. Jesus said that between the two men, it was the repenant publican who wen away justified. The Pharisee kept babbling about how he fasted and how good he was.
Between these two, where do you find yourself?
What should your attitude in prayer be?
When you don’t ask God to cleanse you, your conscience is dead.
Apostle Badger intimated, “God is looking for people to pour Himself into.”
Your first offering unto the Lord is your body (study Romans 12:1).
Your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit. How should you handle it then?
Honour God with your body!
He admonished the ladies not to give their bodies to guys to mishandle and ‘touching-touching’ it.
Keep your body for the Lord.
(Please study 1 Corinthians 6:15-20 and 1 John 1:9).
Reading from 2 Corinthians 5:17 we understood that the old creation is the nature before you got to know Christ.
We also discovered from Galatians 2:20 that we were co-crucified with Christ.
Apostle Badger hinted, “People are not living the true Christian life because they are not acquainted with their new identity in Christ.”
You must flee youthful lust.
Acts 17:28 says that in Him we live and we move and we have our being. To live as a new creation, you must live in Him, move in Him and have your being in Him.
Make an intentional investment into your life. He said, “If you get it right now, tomorrow you will get it right.”
Be careful what you watch. When you watch the wrong stuff, Satan begins to work on your emotions.
Touching on the importance of home cells, Apostle indicated that it is a wonderful opportunity to care for one another (Hebrews 10:25).
Apostle Badger emphatically stated, “Your tithes and offerings will become more acceptable when your body is first offered unto the Lord.” Focus on the new creation. Build your relationship with Jesus on a daily basis. Be consistent.
Beware! The old man is always around.
Rev. Mrs. Badger continued by pointing out that we are the chosen of God. She said, “Character preserves riches, values, principles, and your identity. Don’t mess up on campus.”
You need the touch of God not the touch of filthiness.
Flee from youthful lusts. Run away! Secure your eyes and your feelings.
You see, sin in Satan personified and it has a voice. Rebuke the spirit and shut it down. Focus on the Word. You’ll have a lot of peace in your life and family.
When you notice those who are going astray, advise them, pray for them and counsel them.
Eagles and vultures have the same family but they are different. Eagles are clean, they have vision and focus on clean things.
On the other hand, vultures are dirty, live on the dunghill, feed on carcasses but they cannot fly.
Don’t be a vulture. Stay focused.
Love you for who you are. God made you wonderful.
Put value on yourself because God has put value on you.
Be an eagle and fly. Eagles rest on rocks. Rest in Christ. He is your rock. Flap your wings in Christ. Nobody can beat you.
Nothing will be able to separate you from the love of Christ. Show eagle love.
Members present were treated to sweet drinks and milk Shortcake.
The following Sunday, Apostle Badger continued his discourse. He said, “People go where they are loved. Learn to take care of new people who come to Church.
Once again, we turned to Acts 17:28 and 2 Corinthians 5:17 and read them out.
He asked a very relevant question: How do we work our way out of the old things into the new?
He hinted that Christianity is about the new creation; it’s about the new way of life. Learn to look at yourself differently.
The man who lives in the new creation focuses on the things of Christ Jesus.
Pray without ceasing. Move by the Spirit and not by the flesh.
The flesh is the old man whereas the Spirit is the new man.
We identified the works of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-21.
Apostle Badger made it known that when you fail to interact with God, you find yourself in the things of the flesh.
Refuse to live in sin. Set your heart and affections on things above (Colossians 3:2).
Align yourself with the Word by meditating on it. Constantly pray and a here to the Word; your life will change.
2 Corinthians 3:18 shows us something precious. As you behold the Lord in His Word, you’re transformed. When you meditate on the Word, you’re beholding the glory of God.
The Word in you sets you apart from others. People should look at you and bear witness that you’re different, because of the Word in you.
Rev. Mrs. Badger wrapped up the Service by sharing something glorious from Job 31:1. Job made a covenant with his eyes not to look at a lady lustfully.
Be an eagle; don’t eat rotten things. Flee youthful lusts!
Remember that sin speaks and that sin has a voice. Don’t listen to it. (Study Romans 7:15,19).
Have you been blessed by this message? Do you know Jesus personally? Are you living for Him. Take this opportunity to come to Jesus and experience His wonderful love and grace.
If you ever find yourself on Legon campus and you’re thinking of where to fellowship Gospel Light International Church is your place to be at 10:00 am on a Sunday morning! Our Service is held in TV room 4001 of the Dr. Hilla Limann Hall.
